Atanas Angelov Recognized at Lafayette's All-College Honors Convocation

Atanas Angelov of Plovdiv was honored by Lafayette College for academic excellence at the annual All-College Honors Convocation. Awards and prizes were presented to 114 students in all four of Lafayette's academic divisions -- engineering, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.

Atanas, Class of 2016, a graduate of Plovdiv Language School, received the William G. McLean Tau Beta Pi Prize, awarded annually to sophomore engineering students based on academic performance, campus citizenship, and professional orientation ; and the Eugene P. Chase Phi Beta Kappa Prize, awarded to sophomores who have demonstrated scholarship as a first-year student .

Brent Glass '69, director emeritus of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, a national leader and public historian, author, television presence, and international speaker on public memory and museum management, served as the event's keynote speaker.
